INTEGRATION
WITH DUCTED HEATING
What
is ducted heating?
- Heated
air is blown directly into rooms via air ducts under the floor.
- Components
include a main air intake, outlet vents in each room, a heater and fan
to circulate the air.
How
is solar energy integrated?
- Solar collectors
heat a thermal reservoir (water tank).
- Heated
water is pumped through a heat exchanger at the main air intake.
- The circulated
air is thus heated by freely collected solar energy.
Limitations
of ducted heating.
- Individual
room control via thermostats is typically not included.
- Vents need
to be individually opened and closed.
- Floor space
is lost to make room for the air outlets.
- The heaters
are typically noisy and they dry out the air.
